Spree of break-ins hit local churches

Sheriff Kenny Harden says he needs Butler County to be on the lookout for suspicious activity at area churches.
Harden said six churches in Butler County have been broken into so far.
“It appears they are looking for money,” Harden said. “Maybe in some places they do, but churches around here don’t really keep money.”
Two break-ins were reported on Monday morning, Harden said, and occurred sometime after Sunday night. Four more were discovered on Wednesday.
Harden believes the same person may be responsible for all six instances, and thinks the victim may be an opportunist from out of town.
“If you see any suspicious activity or vehicles parked at a church when they shouldn’t be, give us a call,” Harden said.
