Since June 1, children from around Butler County have been enjoying the fun and festivities at the Greenville YMCA’s Day Camp.

The camp continues until August 13 and is still open to all who wish to attend, said YMCA director Amanda Phillips.

Phillips said campers enjoy various activities during the week, such as arts and crafts, swimming and singing. Dancing, however, seems to get them excited like no other pastime.

“They love it, but its actually part of their physical exercise,” Phillips laughed. “They don’t even know they are exercising.”

This week, Phillips said, has been holiday week, where every day is based around a holiday. Monday, Santa Claus came up from Panama City to talk to the children, and Tuesday, the Easter Bunny hopped by for a while. Today was Valentines Day, followed by Halloween Thursday. They will wrap up Holiday Week with a Thanksgiving celebration on Friday.
