The Greenville Mites have hung up their hats for the season after Friday’s game ended in a 13-3 loss.

Coach Stacy Meyers said that after play resumed after the one-day rain delay, her team couldn’t get going.

“We got in a jam and couldn’t dig ourselves out,” Meyers said. “They scored another run, and we didn’t score anything.”

Despite the disappointing ending, Meyers is still happy with their overall performance.

“For them to lose the first game of this tournament and fight their way back to the championship was an accomplishment in itself,” Meyers said. No other Greenville Mite team has made it this far.”

All of her players played well, Meyers said.

“Without all twelve we couldn’t have done anything,” Meyers said. “I hope each and every one walked away with something new.”
