Annual Coaches Corner returns

For over twenty years, area coaches and curious citizens have gathered at the Kiwanis Club annual “Coaches Corner” to discuss the upcoming football season. As Richard Branum explained, it’s all about giving these coaches the microphone for a few minutes.
“It gives the coaches a place to come and tell everyone what is going on with their programs,” Branum said.
Coaches get to hear how other programs are doing, and Butler County citizens only have to go to one place to get the news on all four schools in the county.
“We are all interested in football,” Branum said. “Some of us, however, may be part of Greenville Kiwanis Club, but may be from Georgiana or McKenzie. This gives everyone a chance to meet the coaches in person and meet some of the players.
There was hardly another seat to be had at the meeting, but Branum said this year “was a small crowd.”
Ben Blackmon, from Greenville High; Miles Brown, from McKenzie School; Shawn Gregory, from Georgiana School; and James “Speed” Sampley, of Fort Dale attended.
