William Lewis, aka The Computer Guy, is creating his own local version of the Geek Squad to assist the community with their computer and electronic needs. Lewis has trained and employed McKenzie High School’s Gregory Maye and Derrick Crittenden and Latoree Peterson from Butler County Magnet School at his downtown Georgiana business as part of their high school program.
“I wanted to give these students a job and a chance to learn. It gives me a way to serve my community, too,” Lewis said.
He has trained the students in repairs on electronics, flat screen TVs, CD changers, cameras, desktop and laptop computers and general electronic equipment. Lewis also offers computer classes, printer, fax and copier services at his business, with students learning all facets of the operation.
“It is a real win-win situation for our business and for these students and the community,” Lewis said.
