Vivian Dukes Killingsworth, born Sept. 30, 1929, in Haleburg, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 27.
Vivian was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eulas Killingsworth, her brother, Edward Dukes and her sister, Polly Dukes. She is survived by her brother, Derrel Dukes; her daughters, Sylvia Daniel (Tommy) and Beth Thomas (Dave); her grandchildren, Melissa Marshall (Robert), Bo Daniel (Denise), Mallory Coleman (Adam), Garrett Thomas, Riane Sullivan (Tim) and John David Thomas and ten great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored.
A dedicated bookkeeper for the Board of Education in Greenville until her retirement, Vivian was also a pillar of her community and her church, First Baptist Greenville. She found immense joy in teaching Sunday School and serving in the Women’s Missionary Union (WMU).
Her love for her family was unmatched, a close second would be her devotion to Auburn football. Known for her mischievous spirit, Vivian was always ready to bend the rules during a game of cards and was the first to line up for a plate of fried fish. Her evenings often ended with a crossword puzzle and the soothing sound of the Atlanta Braves on the TV.
A cancer survivor, Vivian tirelessly supported the Relay for Life, dedicating her energy to raising awareness and funds for the cause. She also loved to travel with her friends, embracing every adventure and living life to the fullest.
Vivian leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and laughter. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, Jan. 30, at 3 p.m. at Magnolia Cemetery with Rev. Tom Daniel officiating and Dunklin Funeral Home directing. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or First Baptist Greenville in her memory.
