Joseph “Alvin” Brogden age 72 passed on early Thursday morning Jan. 23. Alvin was born Dec. 30, 1952 in Butler County. He graduated from McKenzie High School in 1971 followed by Reid State Technical College. Alvin and Beth were married on April 2, 1987. He was well known in the McKenzie, Industry and Georgiana communities. During his younger years, he enjoyed sports and drag racing his green Dodge Duster. Many knew him from his more than 30 years working as a Maintenance Electrician with International Paper in Chapman then a few years at Hyundai in Montgomery. He was a member of the McKenzie Masonic Lodge and made Master Mason honored on Sept. 28, 1988. He belonged to the Community of Christ Church in McKenzie. He will be missed by many in the community. To know him was to know he was stubborn, hardheaded and quick tempered.
He is survived by his wife Beth Brogden, daughter Blair Bush (Colt), stepdaughter Lauren Ballard (Jacob), brothers Ronnie Brogden (Emily) and Douglas Brogden (Donna), grandchildren Morgan Strawbridge (JD), Ella Ballard, Ava Ballard and Logan Ballard, great-granddaughter Crawford Strawbridge, granddogs Lucy and Dax Bush, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by parents Benard and Austelle Brogden, uncle Luther Beesley,
stepdaughter Tara Wheeler and beloved black Labrador, Ebony.
Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, beginning at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, McKenzie, with Johnson Funeral Home directing. The family will be receiving friends for visitation, beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
