Confidence continues to increase on the area receiving significant to major winter weather impacts.
Trends today have been for a southward shift in the highest snow totals. Areas along and south of Hwy 84 to the I-10 corridor appear to be in the most favorable area to receive the highest totals. North of Hwy 84, confidence decreases on how much snow will occur. However, given such cold temperatures, even minor accumulations could lead to major impacts.
It looks like this will be a mostly snow event for the majority of the area, however, we still cannot rule out more of a mix across the immediate coastal areas and that could impact accumulations there.
A Winter Storm Warning will become necessary overnight for much, if not all the area.
Timing still looks to be from Tuesday morning into Tuesday evening. Our forecast timing graphic includes a safety margin to account for light winter precipitation developing a bit earlier (we often see this in these types of events).
