Bolling Frances Elrod Phelps, 93 of Greenville passed away peacefully on Jan. 4. She was born on May 16, 1931, in Gaylesville and lived her adult life in Greenville.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9 at Damascus Baptist Church with Reverend Craig Burkhalter and Reverend Don Yancey officiating with Dunklin Funeral Home directing.

Bolling is preceded in death by her mother Alice Kathryn Brewer Elrod; father James Wesley Elrod; husband Earl Franklin Phelps; siblings, Louise Davison, Milton Elrod and Johnny Elrod and grandson Heath Black.

Bolling is survived by daughters Tricia Phelps (Tony Maulucci) of Alpharetta, Georgia, Sandy Black (Roger) of Honoraville; sister Jimmie Waters of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; brothers, Willis Elrod (Diana) of Ooltewah, Tennessee, Herman Elrod (Faye) of Gaylesville, Ed Elrod (Patricia) of Greenville; grandson Chad Black (Shea) of Honoraville; great grandchildren Lily and Colt Black of Honoraville, Halle Winters (Sam) of Greenville Tealie Paulk of Greenville, AL and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bolling (known lovingly as Nanny to her grandchildren and great grandchildren) was known for her warmth, generosity and love for others. Throughout her life, she dedicated herself to both her family and community, living an unwavering faith in the Lord. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, always welcoming others with open arms and a kind heart.

A talented baker, Bolling took great pride in making wedding cakes and was often the go-to baker for family and friends. Her passion for cooking extended beyond baking, and she was known for preparing delicious meals that brought loved ones and friends together.

For much of her career, Bolling worked as a bookkeeper in the automotive business where her attention to detail and strong work ethic were highly valued.  

Bolling’s faith and devotion to her church family was at the center of her life. She lived each day in service to others, striving to live according to Christian values. Her life reflected love, kindness and humility.  Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
