Clive “Buster” Alexander Reid, a resident of Fort Deposit, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at the age of 92.
Buster was preceded in death by his father, George Julian Reid Sr; mother, Callie Holmes Reid; wife, Peggy Darlene Simmons Reid; son, David Ronald Watts; brothers, Robert Edward Reid and George Julian Reid II; sister, Carolyn Agnes Reid Forbes; mother-in-law, Estelle Sirmon Simmons and father-in-law, Dayton Oree Simmons, Sr.
He is survived by his sons, George Robert (April) Reid and Alexander Scott (Elizabeth) Reid; daughter, Susan Darlene Keebler; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren, along with nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
Buster began his career as an aircraft mechanics helper at Brookley Field in Mobile. After completing his training, he became an aircraft mechanic at Maxwell Field in Montgomery. In the early 1950s, he purchased land and decided to pursue farming. He then began a family in the early 1960s and continued to farm for 60 years. After retiring, he enjoyed and spent his time fishing, woodworking, gardening, reading, and assisting around the farm as needed.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, Dec. 23, beginning at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Dunklin Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Myrtlewood Cemetery in Fort Deposit. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning 10:30 a.m. until service time.
Pallbearers are nephews, Jay Forbes, Robert Forbes and Julian Reid III and great nephews, Reid Holderfield, Robbie Forbes and Hampton Reid.
