Tayla and Pearl’s Attic Finds brought some holiday spirit to downtown Greenville Saturday with the aim of bringing in customers for themselves and surrounding businesses.
The operation is a thrift and consignment store in downtown Greenville, allowing locals to purchase booths inside the store to sell their antiques and hand-made items. The store was founded by Kimmie and Claude Plant last year and opened to fund the couple’s cat rescue.
Now boasting over 40 vendors in the store, the Plants decided this year it was time for a quick visit from Santa Claus.
“We’ve been open a year and we didn’t have Santa last year,” Kimmie Plant said. “I was thinking I wanted something more now that we’re in our new location. Santa was the next best thing [we needed] to draw in the crowd.
“I wanted it for growth, for [the store] to grow. [The store is] a passion of mine and I really enjoy it.”
While Santa was on his way, attendees could visit the many booths available, shopping items ranging from antique Christmas ornaments, local artists’ paintings and hand-painted glassware to pre-loved and thrifted Christmas decorations.
One booth owner, Cindy Dewberry, offered a variety of Christmas items ranging from stockings, decorations and trinkets.
“I am having a ball,” Dewberry said. “We have lots of people coming in, selling lots of items and we’re very excited about our turnout.”
Once Santa arrived, children were able to take a photo with him and receive a free candy cane. The store asked for a suggested donation of $5 for photos, with proceeds going towards the cat rescue.
Additionally, Tayla and Pearl’s Attic Finds provided refreshments such as cookies, donuts and red velvet cake bites for attendees. Those in attendance also had the opportunity to win door prizes by entering a raffle found near the checkout.
While the open house for Tayla and Pearl’s Attic Finds has ended, booth owners encourage others to take a look at the variety of items available within the store.
“Come see us anytime during the week,” Dewberry said. “We’ve always got stuff in here, and we’d love to see you in here.”
