Eli Cole Blackburn, age 19, a resident of McKenzie, Alabama, died unexpectedly on Dec. 4 from injuries sustained in a fatal automotive accident. His loss was completely unexpected; he will be deeply missed by everyone he leaves behind.
Eli was born on May 22, 2005, to his parents Jeremy and Kayla, and despite his short time on earth, Eli lived an extremely full life. With a fun-loving, charismatic demeanor since birth, Eli could light up any room with a smile on his face.
Eli attended McKenzie High School and graduated in 2023. Eli was preceded in death by his great grandparents Mable Baldwin, Ed and Patsy Brooks.
Eli is survived by his parents Kayla Moorhead, Jeremy and Amy Blackburn; grandparents Ronald and Annette Merrit, Nicky and Beverly Blackburn; siblings Mikayla Blackburn, Caden Blackburn, Aubree Blackburn, Everly Blackburn, Laike Moorhead and Saige Moorhead; son Roper Blackburn and his loving girlfriend Kadee McGough. He also leaves behind many extended family members and close friends who he considered family.
An avid outdoorsman, Eli enjoyed spending as much time as possible in nature. Everyone who knew Eli knew how much he loved hunting, fishing and the great outdoors. Never meeting a stranger, Eli showed kindness to those around him and fiercely loved his large family and circle of friends.
Funeral Services were held on Saturday, Dec. 7, beginning at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home. Burial followed in South Butler Cemetery, in McKenzie with Johnson Funeral Home directing.
The family received friends for visitation on Friday evening, Dec. 6 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home. The family requested that everyone dress casually or wear camouflage to honor Eli and his love for the great outdoors.
