Obituary – Elaine Price Vickery

Elaine Price Vickery, born on Feb. 3, 1936, in Canada, passed away peacefully in her home in McKenzie, on Oct. 25. She was married for over 50 years to her soulmate, Dwight Vickery, who preceded her in death.

Elaine is survived by her son, Russ Vickery, and her daughter, Christi Waldheim. She was a proud grandmother to Jackson Vickery, Hunter Waldheim and Ingrid Waldheim, and leaves behind several nieces, nephews and so many special friends that will greatly miss her.

A retired elementary teacher and librarian, Elaine was a cherished member of the Community of Christ Church in McKenzie. Her strong faith in the Lord was the foundation of her life, inspiring all who knew her with her unwavering trust, love and grace. In her spare time, Elaine had a passion for art, reading, rummikub, playing the piano, and working in her flower beds. Elaine was most fondly known for her kindness, unwavering wit and deep love for her community and church family.

Her family would like to thank all of her caregivers and Southern Care Hospice for the loving support and care that Elaine received. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Community of Christ Church, 135 S Garland Rd, McKenzie, AL 36456, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

A memorial service to celebrate Elaine’s life will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 11 a.m. at Community of Christ Church in Mckenzie.
