On Saturday, Sept. 7, Commerce Street in downtown Greenville was bustling with activity during the 10th Annual Camellia City Fest. The event, organized by the City of Greenville and the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce, drew locals and visitors in large numbers to enjoy a fun-filled day.
Tracy Salter, Executive Director of the Chamber expressed her gratitude for the enormous support they received from the community.
“We would like to extend a thank you to the Camellia City Fest committee members, Camellia Girls and Chamber Pages and to the City of Greenville,” Salter said. “A lot of hard work goes into planning and executing events as large as City Fest and we are blessed to have people willing to put boots on the ground to make it happen.
Over 70 vendors offered a wide variety of arts and crafts, fresh flowers, woodworks, apparel and accessories. Several food trucks were on-site, serving up favorites like barbecue and kettle corn, while downtown merchants added to the excitement with special sales.
Families enjoyed a host of activities, including balloon animals, a petting zoo, a bounce house and a rock climbing wall. Local radio personalities from Q94 were also present, keeping the crowd entertained and engaged throughout the event.
The Chamber also extended special thanks to Representative Chris Sells and the Alabama Department of Tourism for partnering with the chamber on a legislative tourism grant that allowed the festival to grow even bigger this year and significantly impacted attendance.
William Taylor with Flying Basset Farms says that this year’s festival was the best one yet.
“The weather was good and sales were good,” Taylor said. “It was a good crowd with friendly visitors. We had a very successful day at City Fest.”
