Robert left Greenville in his early twenties to relocate his family to Braggs.  It is here where he entered the logging business, becoming a self-employed business owner.  Robert was self-taught and was proficient in a variety of trade skills during his lifetime. Over the course of his working career, he owned a logging and timber business, a full-service body shop, and several gas stations. Robert was the epitome of self-made, possessing an indomitable willpower and work ethic that stood tall during a generation of hard workers.  Robert was also fond of turkey hunting in his youth.

During his retirement, Robert would spend his days “supervising” any and everything that went on in Braggs.  He enjoyed riding his four wheelers and being outside but was also an avid reader and fan of old western films.  He was affectionately known by his family as “the Mayor of Braggs” or just “the mayor”, for many years “running unopposed”.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Irby and Mary Alice; wife, Janelle and siblings Edward Jones, Lamar Taylor, and Fannie (Whitman) Taylor.

Robert is survived by his children, Angela Taylor Golson (Sam), Deborah Taylor Till (Ken), Lisa Taylor, Karen Taylor (Jeff Jones), Johnny Lamar Taylor and Robert Earl Taylor, Jr. (Christy), twenty grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, his sister, Fay (Smith) Taylor and numerous nieces and nephews.
