In the wake of the June 30 Butler County Health Department fire, Jefferson County has loaned Butler County a mobile RV medical unit, now located on the site of the original building.

Clinical services are being provided in the mobile unit from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Patients should call the existing health department number at 334-382-3154 to schedule appointments.

Additional services are available at neighboring locations. Residents can find a nearby location by visiting alabamapublichealth.gov/about/locations.html.

“Following the fire, we have received calls, texts, and emails from our counterparts across the state,” said Kyle Odom, assistant administrator for the Southeastern Public Health District at the Alabama Department of Public Health. “Dr. David Hicks in Jefferson County immediately offered the mobile unit to us so that we could continue to provide services to our patients.

“Other counties and districts sent supplies, furniture and even gift baskets to our staff. We are beyond grateful to those who have offered support as we navigate through this time. Because of their help, we have been able to focus on providing the services that are needed within the community.”
