The Butler County Concern Citizens will host the Greenville Motivational Youth Football Camp on Saturday, Apr. 6, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the old football field behind Greenville Elementary.
The event, spearheaded by Greenville High School graduate and longtime football coach Harry Crum, aims to teach participants between the ages of 10 and 17 the fundamentals of football and the importance of teamwork.
“We’re of course going to be covering the foundations of football…things like proper stance, running technique, and throwing,” Crum said. “But we’re also really trying to stress teamwork, togetherness, and being of one accord.”
Crum hopes the participants will leave the event not only with football skills but also with valuable life skills.
“The respect for your coach, the respect for authority, and respect for your team members…that’s building traits that will carry you throughout life,” Harry added.
The camp will feature Tuskegee University graduate and former NFL linebacker Kenneth Woodard as a motivational speaker. Woodard, who played for the Denver Broncos, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the San Diego Chargers, brings a wealth of experience to inspire the young athletes.
Butler County Concern Citizens member Kenneth Crum expressed his excitement about the event, highlighting its potential impact on the youth of Greenville and the surrounding areas.
“Having graduated from Greenville High School and being inducted into the Tuskegee University Athletic Hall of Fame, it gives me joy to host this great football camp with Butler County Concern Citizens and legendary Wing-T Coach Harry Crum,” Kenneth said. “The youth from Greenville and the surrounding areas will benefit immensely from the wealth of experience and coaching that they will receive. We are looking forward to seeing a huge Greenville crowd and a special appearance by the Temple Of Hope’s Drumline.”
The Greenville Motivational Youth Football Camp promises to be an enriching experience for young football enthusiasts, offering them not just football skills but also valuable life lessons.
Light refreshments will be provided, and registration is free. Those interested in registering should contact Crum at 334-419-3475 or by email at hcrum39@gmail.com.
