Yard Sale

A yard sale will be held at 523 Greenville Bypass on Oct. 7. All proceeds will benefit the Crisis Closet. Clothes are $5.00 per bag. Household items, frames, toys, shoes, and furniture will also be available from 6:30 a.m. until noon.

 

Bark in the Park

The Butler County Humane Society will host Bark in the Park at Confederate Park on Oct. 7 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. All students must attend. Wear society shirts and if you bring your dog, your parents must attend. All dogs will win a prize. 

 

Kitty Palooza

The second Kitty Palooza will be held Oct. 7, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., at Sonya’s Dance & Fitness studio downtown. Community members are invited to come play with the kittens or adopt a little “fur baby”. All kittens will be fixed, wormed, and de-flead and cost $85 to cover the expenses. 

 

Wildlife Event

Tractor Supply in Greenville invites deer and wildlife enthusiasts to attend a Deer and Wildlife event on Oct. 7 from 12-8 p.m. The event is open to the public. For more information call (334) 382-1137.

 

Blood Drive

A mobile blood drive van will be located at Greenville’s Walmart on Oct. 8 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

 

Celebrate Recovery 

Celebrate Recovery meets every Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. at the First Assembly of God Church, 760 N. Conecuh St. in Greenville. The group deals with all types of issues and is free to the public. For more information call 334-382-2138.

 

Humane Meeting

The Butler County Humane Society will hold its regular meeting from 12-2 p.m. on Oct.11 at Cambrian Ridge.

 

Music Class

FUMC is hosting a juniors music class for elementary kids aged 4-10 at 6 p.m. on Wednesday nights at 112 Adams St. Singing, handbells, and rhythm instruments! Call  382-5872 for more info.

Pioneer Meeting

Pioneer Electric Cooperative invites members to its 86th annual meeting on October 14 at the Butler County Fairgrounds in Greenville. Gates open at 9 a.m., and the business meeting will begin at 10:15 a.m. Call Pioneer for information at (800) 239-3092. 

 

Grand Opening 

Fannie Chisholm will host the grand opening of her new event center on Oct. 14 from 10 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  at 119 State Highway 106 in Georgiana. The event will serve a full meal, have musical entertainment, gift free t-shirts and give tours of the facility.

Homecoming Service

The Brooks Assembly of God located at 36953 Lloyd Mill Road in Redlevel will hold a homecoming service on Oct. 15 at 10:30 a.m. Message will be delivered by Brother Stanley Griffin with music by James and John Ministries.

 

Kidsquest Fallfest 

First Assembly of God will be hosting a Kidsquest Fallfest  with Pastor Tim Jones on October 15, 16, and 17 at 6 p.m. nightly. This event is not just for kids, there is something for everyone. The church is located at 760 N. Conecuh St in Greenville. 

 

Fall Supper Social 

The Greenville Chamber of Commerce and the Public Library is hosting the fall supper social on Oct. 19 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. There will be live music, festive foods, door prizes and beer and wine. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased at the Chamber or Library. Must be 21 or older to attend.

Patio Pups 

The Butler County Humane Society will host “Pups on the Patio” at Wintzells on Oct. 21 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. A percentage of sales will be donated to the society. 

 

Cemetery Tour

Mollie Waters will lead a free tour of the Pioneer Cemetery on Oct. 22 at 2 p.m. to share information about the cemetery’s history, inhabitants, and renovations. Donations to the Pioneer Cemetery Association are encouraged.

 

Lions Fundraiser

The Greenville Lions Club will hold a boston butt fundraiser on Oct. 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. across from Q94 radio station. Each fully cooked boston butt is $35. Deadline to order is Oct. 25. For information or to purchase, contact any Lion or call )334) 662-8398.

 

Truck or Treat

The First United Methodist Church (FUMC)  will host its annual Trunk or Treat on Oct. 25 from 6-7 p.m. in the FUMC parking lot at 112 Adams Street. Wear your favorite costume and invite a friend!

 

Fall Festival

Local churches are hosting a Fall Festival on Oct. 29 from 6-8 p.m. at Beeland Park at 1204 East Commerce Street. There will be Trunk or Treating, games and food. The event is hosted by Southside Baptist, First Baptist, First Presbyterian and the First Methodist. 

 

The Great Pumpkin 

The Chamber of Commerce invites the community to come decorate their own pumpkin and drop it off on Oct. 27 between 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. or Oct. 30 from 2-4 p.m. Come view and vote for the best pumpkin on Oct. 31 from 4-5 p.m. in Confederate Park, winners will be announced at 6 p.m. 

 

Greenville Halloween

A Halloween party with music, a costume contest, a dance contest, balloon art, concessions and candy galore will be downtown from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 31. For more information call the Chamber at 334-382-3251.

 

Georgiana Halloween

Join in for Halloween fun at the Hank Williams Pavilion  from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Oct. 31. There will be costumes and candy for children ages 12 and under. 

 

Car Wash

The Humane Society will host a car wash at O’Reily’s with pizza on Nov. 4 from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. Please attend to help sponsor the society’s $200 trip in April.

There will be a second chance rescue opportunity on Nov. 18 from 10-11 a.m. Humane Society volunteers will go out to Miss Kandy’s Sanctuary and visit all the animals. We will meet at Old Searcy School House.

 

Miss Merry Christmas
