A few of the community’s very own experienced a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and were featured in marketing efforts with one of the world’s largest global conglomerates.
In August 2022, Marty Sexton, owner of Greenville Auto Parts and a local Amazon distributor, was chosen as one of the first eight businesses in the entire country to begin Amazon’s commercial pilot program. Included in the commercial with Sexton was were father, Kenneth Sexton, local Amazon deliverer Curtis Fields, and Camellia City Bakery and Deli owner Ann Judah.
“It was a great experience,” Fields said. “When I was first told we were going to do the commercial, I was thinking it was just going to be a little something, but it was a full-blown production, they went the whole nine yards! It was just a great experience that took me by surprise, and I feel honored to have been a part of it.”
Sexton said he shut his business down for the day as filming started at 9:00 a.m. and did not end until around 8:00 p.m. He explained there were around 17 crew members present for lighting and sound production, as well as hair, makeup and wardrobe.
“It was a crazy and kind of weird experience, but it was fun!” Sexton said. “Everybody was super professional. Everyone that I’ve ever dealt with in Amazon has been very cool, and I’ve actually made some pretty good friendships with them. So it’s been a good experience all around.”
Sexton began his partnership with Amazon in Oct. of 2020, after learning that close to 11 other local businesses had turned down the opportunity. Sexton decided to take a chance on the venture, and is happy that he did. He explained it has expanded his own business, and said he is fully staffed with local drivers who all do a great job. Greenville Auto Parts is not the sole Amazon deliverer in Greenville, the local Post Office and UPS deliver as well and are not in partnership with Sexton.
Judah said she had a great experience with the Amazon crew.
“I was honored that Marty asked me to be a part of this undertaking,” Judah said. “I am pretty amazed at actually being a part of a national, and really international, project. The crew from Amazon were so professional and courteous. They were thoughtful in every act of their job that day!”
The commercial is currently on multiple streaming services, and can be viewed on YouTube under the title “Meet Our Amazon Hub Delivery Partner: Greenville Auto Parts”.
