The Alabama Sports Writers Association released high school football rankings Sept. 27 with first-place votes, win-loss record and total poll points received. One Butler County school ranked among the top 10 teams in the Alabama Independent School Association (AISA) and one received votes in their Alabama High School Athletic Association class.
Fort Dale Academy, currently 4-1, gained 52 points to rank at No. 8 among top 10 AISA teams. Georgiana School, 4-1 in the AHSAA Class 1, received eight points.
The Eagles’ head coach Eric Folmar said receiving recognition for the team’s heart work was an encouragement to players and coaching staff. At the end of the day, rankings don’t win games, but it is nice to see some recognition.”
