Georgiana School is set to kick off the summer break by hosting its 15th Annual Georgiana Summer Youth Basketball Camp. The camp is for boys and girls from ages 7-14 and will cost $25 per child.
Head basketball coach Kirk Norris said, “We welcome all kids in this age group from the surrounding areas to participate. This camp is a great tool for teaching and learning.”
All proceeds will go to benefit the school’s basketball program. The camp will be held at Georgiana School, beginning May 31 through June 2 from 8 a.m. -12 p.m. daily.
“This initiative will give kids something productive to do this summer, as we continue to grow our program, and encourage our future athletes,” Norris said.
Fundamental basketball skills will be taught by basketball staff and student athletes from the JV and Varsity teams.
“This gives the kids a chance to interact with some of their favorite high school players and role models, ” said Norris.” Campers will engage in fun, daily competition, and gameplay such as, Gotcha, Hot Spot, Free Throw contest and the 5 on 5 full court experience. Each student athlete will be given a Georgiana basketball t-shirt for attending the camp.
The Camp Store will be open with concessions, for all to purchase snacks and drinks daily. On Friday, there will be a championship game, full of excitement and prizes.
A Camper of the Week certificate will be awarded to one lucky camper, who has worked hard and exemplified great sportsmanship throughout the week. Coach Carlton Edwards said, “We look forward to this camp every year, as we bring all communities together for a great time, and enhance the skills and training of our future athletes.”
Late registration will be held on May 31 prior to camp. For more information, contact Coach Kirk Norris at (334) 488-4579, or (334) 376-9130.
