McKenzie man injured in boat crash

A single vessel crash resulted in three people being taken to local hospitals.
At approximately 9:55 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, a single vessel was involved in a crash on the Conecuh River, just south of the boat ramp on U.S. 29 near Gantt Lake in Covington County. Justin H. Cauley, 23, of Andalusia sustained serious injury when the 16 foot Aluma craft boat he was operating stuck a tree. Three passengers were onboard, two sustaining injury, Elijah C. Courson, 22, of McKenzie and Sierra J. Bakke, 23, of Andalusia.
Bakke was transported to Andalusia Medical Center for treatment. Cauley and Courson were transported to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery for treatment.
Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA’s) Marine Patrol Division continue to investigate the crash.
