The Greenville Police Department held their community-building cops and kids event earlier this month thanks to help from the “Faith and Blue” organization.
Faith and Blue is a nationally based organization.
Their mission is to bridge the divide between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
In keeping with the Faith and Blue’s mission to facilitate “safer, stronger, more just and unified communities, the event put on by the Greenville Police Department was designed to improve the community’s relationship with local law enforcement.
Those in attendance had good food, specialized equipment displays, and fun activities that included a rock-climbing wall and a bounce house.
“We just want to thank the community for coming out and participating in the event,” said Chief Justin Lovvorn. “Overall, the event was successful. There was an excellent turnout, so we’re looking to do this in the future as an annual event.”
According to Chief Lovvorn, the Greenville Police Department has quite a few things planned for the future.
“We’re going to be starting back up what we used to do before COVID, “ Lovvorn said. “We have self-defense and active shooter classes starting again. We also have the officer memorial coming up.”
