Mr. Julian Wayne Roper, 82, a resident of Greenville died on Tuesday evening, April 20.
The funeral service was Sunday, April 25 in the chapel of Dunklin Funeral Home.
Reverend Herbert Brown officiated and Dunklin Funeral Home directed.
A burial was followed in Central Baptist Church Cemetery.
His loving wife of 50 years Mary Scott “Scottie” Roper, parents, Julian Leo Roper and Mary Ruth Crawford, brother.Lewis Crawford and brother-in-law Tom Hudson precede him in death.
His sisters Donna Hudson, Valerie (Wayne) Hayes, and Kerry (Owen) Morell, brother Stephen Roper, sister-in-law Sarah (Hollis) Lewis, brother-in-law Bob (Janelle) Newton, many nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends survive him.
Mr. Roper proudly served in United States Navy and was an active member of the American Legion.
He worked with the Alabama State Highway Department for 36 years. He was a longtime member of Southside Baptist Church and the Gideons International. An avid Alabama fan, he hardly ever missed a game and proudly wore his Crimson Tide apparel.
