Fort Dale Academy seniors Jamie Pickens and Nate Richardson were chosen to participate in the AISA Allstar basketball game on Feb. 19, as part of the 15-member West squad.  Players met at the Cramton Multiplex in Montgomery on Friday afternoon for practice and a pregame meal.  The West girls defeated the East 64-56, and the West boys also defeated the East 89-82.

Pickens said she enjoyed playing with girls she has been playing against for six years and meeting new people.  She added, “You would think we would be lacking in chemistry having never played together and only practicing together briefly, but we were quickly united to play our last high school game ever.”  Pickens scored two points with a jumper on a fake and drive and had several assists.

Richardson also enjoyed lacing up for one more game.  When asked to comment on his experience, he replied, “It was fun to put aside rivalries and play with people who are the best of the class of 2021.”  Richardson also scored two points on a jump shot and was strong on the boards with several rebounds.
