Butler County broke ground Thursday afternoon on a new sheriff’s office building.
The county commission and the sheriffs office have been working on the project for the last two years.
The soon-to-be-constructed building will be located across the street from the Butler County Correctional Facility.
The building will cost the county $639,000 to build and has an estimated completion date of fall of this year, depending on weather.
Currently, the sheriff’s office is located in the Butler County Courthouse and is too small for the needs of the office.
