Cauthen brings fitness via 365Fyne
A small Greenville business continues to help locals make some big lifestyle changes.
365Fyne Studio at 224 W Commerce Street in downtown Greenville is the culmination of a dream for owner Latoya Cauthen.
“From the time I was a little girl, I always wanted to become an entrepreneur. I never thought it would be a dance studio, though,” Cauthen explained. “This goes to show you that God’s plan will take you places you would never dream of.”
For Cauthen, her personal health issues became the catalyst.
“I was 240 pounds and knocking on the door of diabetes and hypertension. I made the decision to lead a healthier lifestyle. Dance fitness along with developing healthy eating habits helped me achieve that goal,” she explained.
Cauthen, who went from 240 to 165 pounds, found she wanted to make the same option available and accessible to the local community “without them having to pay an arm and a leg to receive it.”
The fitness studio has been open for four years now and Cauthen says she has come to thrive on the camaraderie has evolved between owner and members.
2020, however, proved to be a real test.
“The COVID-19 guidelines affected me the most in the beginning. These classes and my members had become a very big part of my life,” Cauthen admitted. “To not be able to have classes from March to June really turned my world upside down.”
The fitness studio owner says she aggressively sought to keep her members safe and her business thriving. “We were constantly sanitizing equipment, checking temperatures upon arrival, and socially distancing the members when having classes. I have really had to dig deep to find inventive ways to keep my vision going in this pandemic,” Cauthen said.
Visit a class at 365Fyne and you will see a cross-section of the community, its owner says.
“I have clients from ages 13 to 65; the beauty of my program is that everyone, no matter their age or fitness level, can reap benefits from it.”
One of these clients who has reaped rewards from 365Fyne is Rod Seale.
“Because of the military, I have lived all over the place and been a part of gyms worldwide. I can say without reservation this is the best overall experience I have seen,” Seale said.
“I think it’s really one of Greenville’s best-kept secrets.”
Among the services offered at 365Fyne Studio are Zumba dance classes, exercise classes, personal training and personalized meal plans based on body type, Seale says.
“There is a real family-like environment at Latoya’s studio and so many success stories from along the way,” he added. “Latoya is a burst of positive energy and great vibes we all feel.”
Cauthen has some words of wisdom for anyone seeking a healthier, leaner lifestyle.
The first step is always the hardest and no one’s journey is perfect,” she said.
“There will be times when you will fall, but you have to pick yourself up and get right back on track. I know people are busy with life, careers, and family, but meal prep was my saving grace. When you take the time to prepare your meals, you won’t find yourself in positions where you’re searching for healthy fast food options.”
There is no “one size fits all” approach to living your best life, Cauthen says.
“What works for one person may not work for you, but at 365Fyne Studio my goal is to help you find the proper fit for your body and lifestyle. My ultimate vision, when God placed me on this path, was to create a fun environment where all people could come together to achieve weight loss and healthy lifestyle goals under one roof.”
In spite of the setbacks of a pandemic, Latoya Cauthen says the dream is very much alive at her downtown studio.
“God took the plan and He gave me a great group of supporters. I have an amazing fitness family—and for that, I will be forever grateful,” she said.
365Fyne Studio is open Monday through Thursday from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and early birds can visit on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Monthly fees are $40 or $5 per individual class.
