The Highland Home Varsity Lady Squadron (1-7) shut down the Brantley High School Varsity Lady Bulldogs (4-4) Monday 44-21.

The Lady Bulldogs came out strong, scoring 13 points in the first two quarters, but could not stop the relentless determination of the Lady Squadron, who answered back with 22 points of their own. Brantley was only able to squeeze out eight more points the second half while Highland Home was able to match their first half.

“The girls have been very close several times lately, but couldn’t quite get over the hump. Today they played 4 quarters and finished the game. This was a very good win for us. I am super proud of them,” said HHS head coach Jonny Mitchell.

Ayden Reese controlled the score board with 24 points for Highland Home. Mitchell mentioned that Reese is nearing her 1,000-point career mark and she is only a junior.

Hope Richardson led Brantley with nine points.

Brantley’s game against McKenzie on Tuesday will be posted on The Luverne Journal’s website.
