A benefit barbecue plate sale for Michael “MJ” Meads will be held Saturday, Jan. 23, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Friendship Church in the Bullock Community. Barbecue pork and chicken plates will be sold to help with mounting medical bills and household expenses for the Meads family.
Meads was involved in an ATV accident on Oct. 10, 2020. He was found unconscious in the road. Meads had been beaten and robbed of his wallet and ATV and left unconscious and paralyzed.
Meads’ wife, Robin Stricklin Meads, said he had cervical fractions as well as numerous other injuries when he arrived at Baptist South’s Trauma Center. She has had to leave her job to care for her husband full time. Robin said doctors are optimistic that he will regain feeling in his legs and he is receiving physical therapy weekly now. She is hoping to have him enter rehab this month.
Meads recently changed jobs and did not have any medical coverage at the time of the accident. A bank account has been setup at Troy Bank & Trust for any donations. Robyn Meads also has an account at Brantley Bank & Trust.
