Locals looking for something to do as a family next weekend can add a live nativity to their calendar.
Georgiana’s Eastside Baptist Church Pastor Jason Williams said this is the church’s first year holding a live nativity drive-thru event.
Williams said each year, the church does something at Christmas with its youth.
“We are a smaller church,” he said. “Last year, we did a shadow play.”
Williams said with COVID-19, the church knew something would have to be different.
“We were talking about what we could do with things being different,” he said. “We didn’t want to pack the church. So, we decided to allow them to act out the nativity.”
Locals will drive through the event rather than getting out of their cars.
The event will be a constant drive-thru.
It will be held Saturday, Dec. 19, from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Williams said while the event is set to last an hour, they will be there for as long as cars continue to come through.
Admission is free for the event.
“It’s just something we are doing for the community,” he said.
The church is located at 643 Oakwood Street in Georgiana.
