On Nov. 18, at approximately 6 a.m., the Crenshaw County TAC Team initiated a search warrant in the area of Old Acres on Hwy. 10 going toward Rutledge
Once inside the residence, contact was made with David Alan Powell Jr., who was detained and a search of the residence led to the discovery of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
While the search was ongoing, Powell escaped from the back seat of the patrol car and fled to a near by residence. The Sheriff observed a red vehicle pull up to that residence and pick up Powell. Deputies Chris Stewart and Jonathan Pitts ran down the road to intercept the vehicle. Powell was found hiding in the front seat. Powell was taken in to custody and transported to the Crenshaw County Jail.
He is charged with Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree, Escape 3rd Degree, Theft of Property 4th Degree and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
