The Fort Dale Eagles hosted the Lowndes Academy Rebels for the final game of the season on October 30. The Eagles started off well with a fumble recovery less than a minute into play by freshman Alan Alvarez that he returned for a 36-yard touchdown. The Rebels next drive ended with an interception by Alvarez. Fort Dale closed the first quarter ahead 6-0. Despite the Eagles moving the ball well, a combination of turnovers and penalties opened the door for the Rebels to score 33 unanswered points and emerge victorious.
Top defensive stats included nine tackles each by Nate Richardson and Noah Pickens and two interceptions by Sterling Arnold.
Head coach Speed Sampley remarked on the season saying, “Football is a great sport because it teaches you life lessons. This year’s team fought through adversity. They did it like men, and that will carry them in life when times are tough. I’m proud to have been their coach.”
