Fort Dale Academy graduate Evan Clark signed a baseball scholarship to Point University on Thursday. Clark grew up playing baseball and joined Fort Dale’s team in the seventh grade. Now, he gets to take his career to the next level.
“It feels great,” Clark said. “I’ve always wanted to play baseball when I grew up.”
Along with his baseball scholarship, Clark received an academic scholarship from Point as well.
Coach Marshall Watts has had the pleasure of getting to watch Clark grow both on and off the field.
“Evan has been in our program since seventh grade and he’s always done things the right way,” Coach Watts said. “He has been a leader on and off the field and truly deserves to go to the next level. It’s quite an accomplishment.”
Clark’s mom, Daphne Clark, is excited to see Clark continue his journey.
“He’s always wanted to play ball in college,” Mrs. Clark said. “I’m glad he’s getting the opportunity.”
Mrs. Clark loved getting to watch Clark play baseball from the day he turned eight years old. 10 years later, she’s still his number one fan and supporter.
“We love watching him and getting to go to all of the games,” Mrs. Clark said. “It’s been a real pleasure.”
Clark will be pitching for the Skyhawks come Spring of 2021 and is looking forward to joining the team.
“There are two teams, so I’m hoping to make the varsity team,” Clark concluded.
