Stabler, Dr. Ernest Vernon Jr., passed away on August 13, 2020 at his home. Funeral services

will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Dunklin & Daniels

Dr. Stabler was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. E.V. Stabler Sr. and Annie Acker Stabler;

brother, Dr. Paul A. Stabler; son, E. Vernon Stabler III; daughter, Molly Ayer Stabler. He is

survived by his loving wife, Judy B. Stabler; sisters, Shannon Linden and Annie Hunter

Galloway; daughters, Margaret Hunter (Jack) Cantey, Kathleen Stabler, Angela (David)

Atchison, Amy Boutwell (Jerry) Halford; son, Christopher Boutwell; grandchildren, Andrew

Atchison, Adam Atchison, Catherine Ann Boutwell, Margaret Cantey, Mollie Boutwell, Abigail

Atchison, Madeline Newton, Jack Cantey, III.

Dr. Stabler was a 1952 graduate of Greenville High School, a 1956 graduate of the University of

Alabama, and he then went on to graduate from Johns Hopkins medical school in 1960. Dr.

Stabler was president of the Alabama Medical Association from 1989 until 1990. He was a

Captain in the U.S. Army where he also served his country as a surgeon and earned the Bronze

Start during the Vietnam War. He was Chief of Surgery and Chief of Staff at L. V. Stabler

Memorial Hospital, where the Emergency Room was dedicated to his name. He was a member

of Kappa Alpha Fraternity and also served as Fort Dale Academy chairman of the board. Dr.

Stabler was a very accomplished man who served his country and community well, he will be

deeply missed by all who knew him.
