Mr. Thomas Sumpter Franklin, 80, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 31, 2020.

Mr. Franklin spent over 35 years as a salesman at Hicks, Incorporated, and was honored by a plaque in their office upon his retirement. Later in life, he became an avid reader, and he made excellent use of the Luverne Public Library’s plentiful collection. More than anything, he loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed nothing more than the time he spent with all of them, and he will be sorely missed by all of them.

Mr. Franklin was preceded in death by his parents, Lyman and Grace Franklin, and his sister, Jean Worthington. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Brenda Killough Franklin; their three sons, Timmy Franklin, Scott (Kay) Franklin, and Chuck (Charlotte) Franklin; six grandchildren, Jason (Alison) Franklin, Chad Franklin, Chad (Emily) Gorey, Cameron (Cody) Gorey, Kaitlyn Franklin, and Mallory (Garrett) Lloyd; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
