Mrs. Betty Carl Thomas, 85, was born on April 6, 1934, and passed away peacefully at her daughter’s residence on Thursday, January 9, 2020.

A graveside service for Mrs. Thomas was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 10th, in Honoraville Cemetery, Honoraville, Alabama, with Rev. Joe Leverette and Rev. Mason Halacker officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mrs. Thomas was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother to Josh, whom she loved and cherished dearly.

She owned and operated Thomas Grocery in Honoraville for a number of years before retiring. In her retirement years, she enjoyed farming, looking after her cows, and visiting with friends.

Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her husband, Joshua Barrett Thomas Jr; their daughter, Latrell Thomas; her parents, Sidney “Gip” and Ethel Lawrence Walker; and four siblings, Wilfred Walker, Grady Walker, Helen Hockett, and Thanna Grayson. She is survived by three daughters, Marilyn (Joe) Holder, Betty Jo (Ricky) McGough, and Lynn Roper; grandson, Josh Roper; two sisters, Erlene Watson and Janice Barron; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers were Faron Frazier, Sonny Gregory, Anthony Holliday, Raymond McGough, Harold Nelson, and Al Sexton.
