A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, 2020, in Honoraville Cemetery for Mrs. Betty Carl Thomas, 85, who passed away peacefully at her daughter’s residence on Thursday, Jan. 9. The Rev. Joe Leverette and the Rev. Mason Halacker officiated.

Mrs. Thomas was born on April 6, 1934. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother to Josh, whom she loved and cherished dearly. She owned and operated Thomas Grocery in Honoraville for a number of years before retiring. In her retirement years, she enjoyed farming, looking after her cows and visiting with friends.

Her husband, Joshua Barrett Thomas Jr; their daughter, Latrell Thomas; her parents, Sidney “Gip” and Ethel Lawrence Walker, and four siblings, Wilfred Walker, Grady Walker, Helen Hockett and Thanna Grayson, preceded Mrs. Thomas in death.

Survivors include, three daughters, Marilyn (Joe) Holder, Betty Jo (Ricky) McGough and Lynn Roper; grandson, Josh Roper; two sisters, Erlene Watson and Janice Barron, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers were Faron Frazier, Sonny Gregory, Anthony Holliday, Raymond McGough, Harold Nelson and Al Sexton.
