The Butler County Commission voted last week to change the closure dates for county offices for Christmas week.
The Commission voted to give employees Dec. 24 (Christmas Eve) off instead of Dec. 26. The Butler County Courthouse and other county offices will be closed Dec. 24 and Dec. 25 for Christmas.
Other upcoming holidays for Butler County include Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020, for New Year’s Day; Monday, Jan. 20, for Dr. Martin Luther King Day; Monday, May 25, for Memorial Day; Friday, July 3, for Independence Day and Monday, Sept. 7 for Labor Day.
The Butler County Commission also honored Gracee Sipper for her recent martial arts accomplishments overseas.
“What an honor to present Gracee Sipper with a plaque to recognize her two gold medals and two bronze medals she won in the USA Olympics in London, England,” Commission Chairman Joey Peavy said. “It’s awesome — that’s right, a young lady from Butler County has made us proud. Congratulations.”
The Commission also did a number of other things during its Dec. 10, meeting including hearing a Butler County Correctional Facility report from Sheriff Danny Bond, Emergency Management report from EMA Director Kris Ware, Engineer’s report from County Engineer Dennis McCall, who said that the Butler County Road Department will be closed Dec. 24 through Jan. 1, 2020, and the Commission paid the county’s bills for the month.
