Three local soldiers braved the 100-degree heat on July 4 in Greenville to take a hike.

Mitch Bozeman, Nic Oliver and Chris Stinson walked “four miles for the Fourth.”

“We’re all in the service, so we’re walking for the Fourth,” Stinson said as the group passed W.O. Parmer Elementary School.

The trio is all in the National Guard and is in the 117th Field Artillery.

The group could be seen around downtown, including walking past the Butler County Courthouse late last Thursday afternoon. Many residents honked and waved or took pictures as they walked by.

The trio carried American flags.
