Some of the very best 9 and 10-year-old softball players in the county will soon head to Scottsboro to compete in the state tournament held there.
The team, consisting of girls from across the county, won the district tournament in Troy in June and will enter the tournament as 1st seed from the district.
Two teams from each district- first place and runners-up- take part in the state tournament.
Head coach Derek Sowell said his team will be competing for a chance to take place in the 10U World Finals held in Louisiana.
The team is also seeking donations from county residents in order to offset the costs of traveling to and staying in Scottsboro for the tournament.
Team members and parents are currently traveling around the county, visiting businesses to find sponsors for the team and raise money for their tournament costs.
Sowell said potential sponsors can contact a team representative on Facebook or call him at his business, L&L Glass, at 334-304-2668.
Assistant coaches for the team are Brad Horn and Lacey Cambell.
The 10U All-Star Tournament will be held from July 12 to 16.
