Butler County could experience heavy rain over the next several days, according to the National Weather Service in Mobile.
Butler County EMA Director Kris Ware said Wednesday morning that according to the NWS, the area could see between 3-5 inches of rain from Thursday through Sunday.
NWS Mobile says that the combination of a system slow approaching from the west and deep tropical moisture streaming northward from the Gulf will be in the state for an extended period of heavy rainfall across the area.
Periods of heavy rain are expected to begin Thursday and continue through late Sunday.
“While the area has been very dry over the past several week, we will have to monitor for an increasing potential of flooding late in the week and into the weekend as the ground becomes more saturated,” Ware said.
NWS Mobile says the heaviest rainfall will be south of Butler County, where the risk is elevated. The remainder of the region, including Butler County, is in an area for limited risk of flooding though locally higher amounts are possible.
