Mrs. Hazel D. Butts, 93, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 27, 2019.
Funeral services for Mrs. Butts were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Lowery and Rev. Mike Thomas officiating.
Interment followed in Luverne Emmaus Cemetery with Rev. Hugh Sikes officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Mrs. Butts was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved her family, friends, and church family above all else.
She was also a dedicated employee of Luverne Slacks Company, where she worked for 29 years before retiring.
Her generous and caring spirit will be sorely missed by all those whose life she touched.
Mrs. Butts was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Seth O. “Bill” Butts; their son, William Douglas Butts; her parents, George Leon and Sallie Campbell Worthington; and sister, Sallie Kate Worthington.
She is survived by her son, Malcolm (Kathleen) Butts; daughter-in-law, Betty S. Butts; four grandchildren, Felisa (David) Parrott, Tommy (Laura) Butts, Ray (Jennifer) Butts, and Jane (Jason) Owens; and seven great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers were Tommy Butts, Ray Butts, David Parrott, Jon Arthur, and Jason Owens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made New Harmony Baptist Church or one’s favorite charity.
