Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019, at Parkview Baptist Church for Mr. Gerald Thomas “Jerry” Ferguson, 80, of Eufaula, who died Wednesday, Feb. 6, at his residence. Burial followed in the Pleasant Home Baptist Church Cemetery in Brantley. The Rev. Glen Brock officiated.
Born Nov. 23, 1938, in Los Angeles, Calif., Mr. Ferguson was the son of the late Albert Alex Ferguson and the late Ella Elizabeth Geczy Ferguson Wheat. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a graduate of William Carey College. He received his Master’s of Divinity from the Baptist Theological Seminary and his Master’s of Education from Eastern Michigan University. He served the Lord as an ordained minister for more than 20 years and he was a member of Parkview Baptist Church. He was very mission minded and served on many mission trips.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Margaret Ferguson of Eufaula; four daughters, Meg Elizabeth Ferguson (Bill) Stringer of Honoraville, Lois Ferguson Conner of Dothan, Jacqueline (J.C.) Herran of Jupitor, Fla. and Lyvoris (Ron) Jernigan of Eufaula; four grandchildren, John Edwards, Megan Conner, Kiara Herran and Maya Herran, and one great grandchild, Hunter Peterson.
Deacons of Parkview Baptist Church served as pallbearers.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Gideons or to any children’s home.
Chapman Funeral Home of Eufaula directed.
