Mrs. Norma “Momma Jean” Cobb, 89, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2018. Funeral services for Mrs. Cobb were held at 11 AM on Saturday, September 29, at Burkville Memorial Methodist Church, 9291 Selma Highway, Montgomery, Alabama with Rev. Clifton Cobb, Rev. Cliff Cobb, and Rev. Michael Cobb officiating. The family held a private interment ceremony in New Live Oak Cemetery in Selma with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mrs. Cobb was a devoted Christian wife and mother, who was affectionately known as “Momma Jean” to many Emmaus and Chrysalis communities and churches. She was an avid believer in the power of prayer and spent much of life working in the church and teaching Sunday School. Ultimately, she died as she had lived, at peace and in the arms of Jesus Christ, her Savior. Mrs. Cobb was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Grant Cobb; their son, William Howell Cobb; her mother, Pearl Ferguson; father, William Frank Smitherman; five brothers and six sisters. She is survived by her two loving children, Clifton F. (Jeanette) Cobb and Sandra (Glen) Reed; five grandchildren, Clifton Frank Cobb, Michael (Sara) Cobb, Todd (Lindsey) Reed, Cody Reed, and “KC” Cobb; five great-grandchildren; brother, Joe Smitherman; and numerous nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will be Todd Reed, Cody Reed, Glen Reed, Clifton Cobb, Cliff Cobb, and Michael Cobb. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to WLBF Faith Radio, P.O. Box 210789, Montgomery, Alabama 36121-0789.
