The W.O. Parmer/Greenville Elementary School PTA is looking for volunteers 18 and over to join them this Saturday, September 20 to “clean up, spruce up, paint up” while adding some colorful artwork to the school campuses.
“Our time frame is set up for us to begin by 7:30 to 8 a.m. to avoid the worst heat of the day–and hopefully we will have enough volunteers to be done by noon. If not, we will keep on until we can get it painted,” explained Meredith Godwin, PTA president.
“We appreciate all those adults who have some time to help us who can come out and join us Saturday morning.”
According to Godwin, projects on tap for this weekend include cleaning around the older WOP playground currently used by the second graders and spreading mulch; getting out the pieces for the giant checkerboard; marking the basketball court and painting six new picnic tables. Special stencils acquired by the PTA will be used to paint a large-scale map of the 50 states, along with positivity poses on the recently resurfaced tennis court area.
“We won’t be doing it this weekend, but in the future we are also looking at putting down a new obstacle course, too,” Godwin said.
Parent volunteer Christy Bozeman is excited about the upcoming workday.
“These stencils we’ve purchased for these projects are amazing and I can’t wait to see what it’s going to look like when it’s finished. I hope a lot of folks can come out and help us get this done. See you Saturday morning!”
