Funeral services for J.W. Land, 77, of Gilbertown were held Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018 at noon at New Lusk Church of God with Rev. Alvin Blackburn officiating. Burial followed in the New Lusk Cemetery. Visitation was held at the church one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Land passed away Tuesday, Jan. 30 at U.S.A. Medical Center in Mobile, Alabama. He was a United Methodist Minister for the Sepulga Circuit where he was currently pastoring Bethel West United Methodist Church, Asbury Methodist Church, and Jenkins Chapel Methodist Church all located in Georgiana, Alabama.

Survivors include his great nephew, Chad Doggett (Jennifer), great-nieces, Nikki Doggett and Kristina Crosby (Justin); great-great nieces Briauna Blankenship, Carlee Blankenship, Macy Doggett, and Mikayla James; and great-great nephew, Auston James.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Mary Mitchum Land; sister, Joyce Rider; brother-in-law, Ken Rider; and nephew, Billy Doggett.

Pallbearers were Chad Doggett, Mickey Mixon, Julian Owens, Ian Godwin, Mark Godwin, and Joel Mixon.

Honorary pallbearers were Christopher Young, Darren Young, Wayne Bass, and Chase Bradley.
