Dorothy Murphy Wyatt

Dorothy Murphy Wyatt, 88, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, August 12.  Funeral services for Wyatt were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16, at Luverne United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Yawn officiating.  Interment followed in Luverne Emmaus Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. 

Wyatt was always young-at-heart and loved working with the Girl Scouts, Sunday School classes, and as a volunteer at Luverne High School.  She also volunteered her time for many years as a Pink Lady at Crenshaw County Hospital. Wyatt was a member of the Luverne United Methodist Church for 60 years, and was also a member of the Suzanna Wesley Group there.

She was preceded in death by her husband, A.J. “Jack” Wyatt; parents, Marcus and Rosa Lee Brogden Murphy; sister, Nina Jo Murphy; and two brothers, J.B. Murphy and Anderson Murphy.  Wyatt is survived by her two daughters, Jenny (David) Brand and Cilla Kelley; four grandchildren, Ashley Brand (Jeremy) Pate, Jeff (Amy) Brand, Amy Kelley (Ryan) Baldwin and Marion Kelley (Andrew) Bray; and three great-grandchildren, Addison Pate, Ella Pate and Mae Baldwin. 

Active pallbearers were Ray Hilburn, Harold Kilpatrick, Alan Carpenter, Jimmy Williams, Randy Watts and William Petrey. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either the LUMC Susanna Wesley Group or the American Heart Association, 1449 Medical Park Drive South, Birmingham, Alabama 35213.
