Star Wars Day slated for Saturday

After a one-year hiatus, the Greenville-Butler Co. Public Library will host its 5th Annual Star Wars Day on Saturday, July 29.
Last year the library was in the middle of an extensive renovation process that shut down the opportunity to host summer programs at the facility.
“We’ve had a great summer this year,” said Kevin Pearcey, Library Director. “Lots of great participation from parents and children at all of our summer activities. But we’re extremely excited to bring back Star Wars Day because it is our traditional end-of-the-summer big program and the kids always seem to love it.”
The doors to the library’s Community Room open at 11 a.m. and activities will be ongoing until 1 p.m., said Pearcey.
Pearcey said the library is sponsoring a LEGO building contest and Star Wars Bingo with a large number of prizes to be awarded to the winners. Additionally, Star Wars-themed snacks will be on hand for all to enjoy.
This year, the face painting group from Abrakadoodle, out of Montgomery, will be rejoining the festivities. Attendees can have their faces painted to look like a number of Star Wars characters.
Additionally, members of the 501st Legion’s Alabama Garrison, a worldwide Star Wars costuming organization, will be available for photo opportunities.
“We want everyone to come out and join us as we close out a fun summer here at the library,” said Pearcey.
