A chance for fellowship, fun, food and an early start on back-to-school preparations is coming to Greenville’s First Baptist Church with the Elementary Extravaganza slated for Sunday, July 9 at 6 p.m.
Plenty of activities, including bouncy castles, face painting, a dunking booth, balloon animal creations, a hot dog supper and more are planned for area elementary students ages K5 through sixth grade. Topping off the event will be the presentation of back-to-school backpacks already filled with supplies to each age-eligible youngster present, says Abbie Ballew, one of the event organizers.
According to Ballew, the extravaganza is a fun way to provide practical support to local families.
“The goal of the event is to be an outreach to the county, to support our students and parents, and to extend the grace and love of Christ. Thanks to the support of the Butler Baptist Association and generous donors, we already have 500 backpacks filled and ready to be handed out on July 9.”
This marks the third year the event has been held, and Ballew promises it will be bigger and better than ever.
“If anyone wants to donate or to volunteer, I’d love to hear from them,” she says.
