The Highland Home baseball and softball teams both had a very big week as Lady Squadron hosted an in-county game against the Luverne Tigers, and the Squadron traveled to 4A powerhouse Holtville High School.
The Flying Squadron did not let the Bulldogs discourage them. They took home a victory of 5-4.
Sophomore Noah Phillips and senior Chase Mansmann pitched a combined seven innings with three hits, five strikeouts and one earned run.
Until the top of the seventh inning, the Squadron was down 4-3 when sophomore Daniel Phillips hit a double, putting the Squadron in the lead 5-4.
Daniel Phillips says they will carry this confidence into the future of their season.
¨We had a very good win against a very good baseball team,” he said.
¨Now we need to take that momentum, and play as strong as we can against Brantley.”
Senior Cody Brown and sophomore Moe Moseley went 1-3 with one RBI each.
Senior Nathan Scoggins went 2-3, sophomore Noah Phillips went 2-4, and senior Clay Hobbs went 1-2.
The Squadron will host an area game against the Brantley Bulldogs Thursday, March 23, starting at 4 p.m.
The HHS softball team played against the Straughn Tigers Thursday afternoon, coming up short 14-2.
